BEM Intrastructure
BME InfrastructureThe proposals to review the way that frontline Voluntary Sector organisations are supported provided the platform for Change Up. EBDC was instrumental in proposing a project idea to the Home Office to establish a framework for supporting BME Infrastructure organisations in London within a social enterprise construct. This project received funding under the Early Investment Programme (EIP) for Change Up via a scheme entitled “Solutions through Ideas.” The result of the collaboration initiated by around 8 BME Infrastructure organisations is the establishment of the Pillar Consortium, set up as a company limited by guarantee with an independent and accountable trustee board and management structure.

Black Minority Ethnic Volunteer Development Project (BMEVDDP) – this project was funded by the Active Community Unit of the Home Office to support diversity in volunteering outcomes for small Black Minority Ethnic organisations through the use of ICT. The project was funded through the Capital Modernisation Fund and comprised of capital subvention only. We secured and distributed around 120 computers to BME voluntary organisations across London with this grant. Through this activity, EBDC became the first ever BME infrastructure organisation to offer grant funding resources by way of capital equipment to front line organisations.
